"The Great Transatlantic Race of 1866." THE MARINE ART OF A D BLAKEAD Blake's oil paintings range from historical maritime scenes to present day yachting events. His subjects vary from the beautiful historic square-rigged sailing ships and gaff-rigged classic yachts to the modern America's Cup racers. The paintings are often historic yachting harbour scenes, featuring New York, Newport, Nantucket, Marblehead, Boston, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Auckland and Venice; or blue water ocean races. The maritime art of Anthony Blake includes paintings of most of the America's Cup yacht races including the first race around the Isle of Wight won by the yacht "America". AD Blake's oil on canvas paintings are painted in a traditional painterly style. They are beautiful paintings of beautiful scenes. They are characterised by their impression of life and movement. The boats, with their sails, the sea, the sky and the background are exquisite in their details and multiplicity of colours. Some of the paintings have been reproduced as limited edition glicee prints. These editions are very limited and can be personalised with a unique pencil remarque.
