"The final leg to victory. "New Zealand" leads "Prada", race five, America's Cup 2000". | The wind is gusting up to 20 knots as "New Zealand", with Dean Barker at the helm, leads "Prada" around the last windward mark with only the run to the finish remaining. "Prada" has just hoisted her spinnaker with a few of the top stops yet to 'break out'.
Clouds cast interesting shadows on the water with sunlight highlighting the racing yachts and some of the large spectator fleet. Following behind "Prada" and "New Zealand" is the luxury motor yacht "Spada" with Sir Peter Blake aboard. Sir Peter's exploration vessel, "Seamaster", can be seen on the right hand side of the painting.
"New Zealand" won this race by 48 seconds and successfully defended the America's Cup by five races to nil.
