NEWSTrip to Italy9th Sep 2011 Last September, 2011, Fiona and I travelled to Sicily in Italy, spending a week driving around the island and visiting many historic spots. We then visited the Amalfi coast and travelled north Through Umbria, Tuscany, Venice, Lake Como and finishing up in Milan. I completed many small 'plein air' sketches, some of which I will use to complete larger paintings- especially those of Venice- a favourite of ours. Sicily and the Amalfi coast are also good for future larger paintings. Just sketching some of the historic buildings in the smaller towns in Umbria and Tuscany will also be very useful for 'colours' for larger paintings. As usual we loved the food and the Italian's were very friendly and helpful.
